Funny how I said Asia...thanks for the link.
----------
The doomsday did not happen. A few computers were infected, and there are still more quantity of threats than just Conficker such as MyDoom and Netsky, and trojan5.ddt, etc.
This is only because of the lack of knowledge in users. Users do not know any better. Most people are not security researchers, like me or Grinler or any other security specialist.
The flaw was patched last October (2008). Who knew, right? Standard Windows users just went about their activities with no fear, and no knowledge of the threats that are available to attack their computer.
Who else was naïve? THE MEDIA. The media automatically assumed that most computers would not have a patch. "So why not go ahead and scare the world that a worm will infect a serious amount of computers," (sarcastic media).
When I found out it was the medias fault, I took down my site's threat level down to low.
However, this worm is very dangerous. I cannot emphasize that enough. The worm is so "celebrity-like" that their is a team of security researchers called the Conficker Working Group.
I think these "celebrity worm" issues date back to SQL Slammer. Oh my, I won't go in to that.
Oh my...talk about targeting domain names in such a public and massive way.

Jay, not to be a jerk, but since when are you a security specialist or researcher?
I for one do not consider myself one. I save those titles for the people who know what they are talking about

I don't attest to quite an expert or specific title, I just say researcher or specialist for those who have general knowledge about how threats work, and the ability to remove them effectively. I have been in internet security research for about six years. I only share my truest, best research on my blogs. Posting on forums are simply different than blogs, of course. A lot of my research is centered on Internet threats, and Phishing. I have an Anti-Phishing software in the works.
Only being 19, I have not had the chance to take an Information Security course. I'm still in Visual Communications going in to my third year. I would not mind getting ISSAP certification.
I did not mean, however, that you were anything specific. I do know that you have knowledge about Internet security, so I was just speaking in general terms.

That's just after a brief looksee at your site. I bet If I really looked, I could give you a list...
My advice is, if you truly aspire to be a researcher and specialist.... let your work do the talking for you. Don't push the title. Watch, read and learn from those who already have a reputation. See if they flaunt their status... might just give you some insight into why people respect them so.

While researchers and specialist converge on the matter I have drawn my own conclusion on the thing.

Jay, we were not trying to mock you by any means. It is just that if you categorize yourself a certain way, and people have never seen you fit that category in the past, it makes sense to question it. No?
