I installed the driver for Vivicam 6324 digital camera on my XP home system. I was prompted to restart and did. Now windows won't load. It goes to the advanced options menu. I tried starting normally, safe mode, last known config and none of it works. It keeps going back to the advanced options menu. When I select safe mode it does seem to get stuck on drivers so I was thinking it had to do with the vivicam driver install. I don't have an xp disk because we got the computer secondhand. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hi Lisaandre,

See if there's someone among your friends or relatives who can lend you an XP boot disk. If so, boot up and try to go back to the restore point which precedes the installation of the webcam.

If you've never done this before, Go to Start / All Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore
check the box to Restore my computer to an earlier time and click on Next. You'll see a calendar with highlighted dates. Choose one of the dates just preceeding these problems and allow your system to return to that date. See if the problem goes away.
If this doesn't work, go back into System Restore as per the above instructions, only this time choose the option to reverse the change you made.

Alternatively, call Vivitar which is the company that builds Vivicam, tell them that in following their installation instructions where it asks you to restart your computer, your computer would no longer boot up and ask them what you should do. It's possible your computer is not the only one to have had this problem. If you decide to call them, try to have some information available including your processor/chip (Intel/AMD) and motherboard information, as well as knowing which operating system you have (xp home or pro and whether sp1 sp2 or sp3).

Here's the contact info:
