I'm running Vista Home Premium. Is there any advantage/disadvantage in installing programs by selecting the 'Run as Administrator' method???

If at first you don't succeed, read the installation guide again.

Yes - if the program has difficulties installing under normal permissions, Run as Administrator may overcome them.
But this won't cure all problems, just those specifically due to the lack of administrator permissions.
