BleepingComputer.com: PC won't come out of standby properly

Hi all,
I have a wee problem with my PC coming out of standby, it has worked ok before in the pass, but then windows got corrupted. Anyway I'd done a full wipe of my partition, reformatted & re-installed windows XP PRO. PC is working a ok again, but when i hit the sleep button the PC goes into standby like it should. (At this state the monitor power light will be flashing, when the PC is on the light will be steady.)

The trouble now is when i move or click my mouse nothing happens, it used to wake PC up before; if i hit the keyboard the PC comes out of standby as sure but not quite. The hard disks spins up ok power light comes on, but the monitor light stays flashing; I'm just looking at a black screen. The way out is to hit the reset button to re-boot PC, which loads as normal.

I have also deleted the partition & re-installed about 2 - 3 times since but i still have this problem which i can't resolve.

Any ideas on how i can get get this sorted will be greatly appreciated.

system: Win XP PRO version 2002 SP 2.
AMD XP 3000+ 2.22GHz 1.00GB RAM
ACPI Unipro PC

When you reinstalled Windows did you install the latest video driver?

No i didn't, but i will go & find the latest updates for video card & let you know if this does the trick.

I have up-dated the latest video drivers. reboot then i hit the sleep button, when i tried to wake PC up, it is still the same as before. Only partial wake up, so needed to reboot.

Have a look in the Event Viewer for any errors at the time you try to wake the computer.

To open the Event Viewer go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer. Alternately, go to Start > Run and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter.

Check in all the categories.

If you find an error that occurred at the time right-click on it and select properties. Copy the information in the window and post it back here. This will help us diagnose your problem.

How To Use the Event Viewer

I didn't find any errors which occurred around the two times when i put pc into sleep & woke up this evening. But i do have errors, so what i have done is export the lists. Attached i have a system event viewer list, & a application event viewer list; along side these are error properties lists.

Now i don't know if these errors are the cause of my problems but at lease you can view these to see if they are or not. I hope these will be of help to you.

Make sure you have the latest audio drivers installed.

Also, check your devices in Device Manager (Start > Run > type "devmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter). Look for any "!", "?" or "X" symbols.

I have the latest audio drivers installed. In Device Manager i don't have any "?" errors at all, here are the latest attachments with nothing being excluded. I will have to split the up-loads in three.

Hi Budapest,
i have tried trend micro house call but it didn`t seem to do anything,
i also tried bitdefender twice since last night but it keeps freezing my pc half way through scan, i can`t post the result`s cause the scan has 2 finish before you can do that and it doesn`t get that far i`m going to try a few more and i`ll let u know how i get on.

F-Secure Online Virus Scanner, only came up with 1 tracking cookie.

Go straight to Step 3 and try to analyse any memory dumps.
