I am told I need to remove and reinstall my .NET Framework 2.0 in order to cure a registry problem caused by a registry cleaning software. This is new territory for me; I have all the needed files and instructions, but am wary of unintended consequences. If anyone has done this and has some advice as to what-all could happen, it would be most welcome. I need to know what could be affected by this and what, if anything, would need to be re-installed afterwards. Thank you!

Uninstalling and reinstalling .net should be straight forward if you do it from add/remove programs and have the files on hand, the worst thing it can do is (apparently) break some programs that rely on it, but that has never happened to me. I would remove the latest versions first (v3) working backwards and when reinstalled everything should be fine again.

If you want to insatll again, install .NET v3.5 only. It would install everything from v2.0 upward.
