Hi, I have a 1 year old NEC versa P8310 and on a reboot it came up with the vista repair tool that fixes boot problems so the user can reboot successfully. It attempts to check the HD but then aborts with a message saying it is unavailable to find a soilution. I automatically attempted to use the sys restore facility, which... came up with an error message. So i used the cmd prompt to use chkdsk, which worked...so im confused to whether the HD is corrupted or not, which... is what the vista repair tool is trying to convey through its very many error message logs which are frankly lost on me.
So i stuck in an XP install Cd and tried to use the repair tool....but this came up with the OP thread title message.
I want to try and avoid a complete reinstall.... so any thoughts here please?? =S
cheers
edit1: also, it does not allow me to boot in any form of safe mode.
