SAMS series are usually well-written and their architectonic style leads from the simple to the more complex in a logical manner. If you have a little programming background, you can read this with profit, even if you don't quite make the 21-day goal.

I suggest you don't buy the book and suggest you read the ACCU's recommendations and reviews.
I would also ask yourself why you are choosing to learn C++ over other languages such as C or Java. I'm not saying you are making a bad choice, just that I've seen many people learn C++ because they think its "_the_ language" or because it has a "++" it must be vastly superior to C. If I were you and was going to learn C++ I'd buy Bjarne Stroustrup's book. He created C++ and wrote a very good book on the subject. |

Hi, i bought that book a little while ago, and now that high school has finished, and i have broken my leg
 , i have nothing else todo but learn C++ for the next 6 weeks. So far its pretty clearly layed out and is helping me to grasp the fundamentals of this programming language. I wouldn't garuntee that you will learn it all in 21 days, all depends on how fast you learn really. I have time so i am going to try and spend about 2 days on each day.

Why buy what you can get free i say.. There are many many many e-books out there on learning C++, and just as many Websites.
Try a google search for " learn c++ " I just searched 4 that, in 2 seconds ive found http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/ http://cyberdiem.com/vin/learn.html http://www.softlookup.com/tutorial/c++/index.asp I also have Applied.C++.Techniques.For.Building.Better.Software C++.Standard.Library.The.A.Tutorial.And.Reference C++.For.Real.Programmers C++.(RUS) Advanced.Corba.Programming.With.C++ . These are all e-books if you want a copy tell me ill be happy to sent them to you. |
