I recently updated my laptop with the "Shut-Down and install updates" option when shutting down. The next time I started up the laptop I have the message "A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart"

I have followed the restart instructions many times only to be prompted by the same message.

I this coincidence, or does it have something to do with the update.

I am at a loss for what to do.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank-You

Try using a bootable hard drive diagnostic from the manufacturer of your hard drive. There's a list of the most common one's here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic28744.html
