help me setup ms dos need help condused

ok i downloaded ms dos from Microsoft website and it went oddly wrong


it completely filled up my desktop with junk

the ms dos version is 6.22

You must've extracted the contents of the archive files to your desktop.
A manual cleanup is in order (delete/move 'em)
I find it's easier to just delete them all and start over.

oh i got it all done, i just had to get a ISO image and capture in BIOS in vurtual pc, but i am having trouble getting it to go to my c: witch has 390 mbs on it (the iso has a: witch has only 1.4 mb's on it)

What do you mean by “getting it to go to c:”? Do you mean the installation program? Do you mean C: in the virtual machine? DOS does not support NTFS systems, so make sure that your virtual hard disk is formatted for FAT32.

First, format your hard disk(FAT) or create a 2nd partition(FAT),
then boot into an os like linux by cd and then extract
the files onto the hard disk or partition and write the mbr.

Your trouble seems to be that you are trying to install DOS through your windows program into windows. You don't seem to grasp that DOS is an entirely separate operating system from windows.

The post, above, which suggests making a separate partition on your drive just for DOS is exactly what you should be doing. If you don't know how to do this, get a local
computer guru or geek to help you.

Any basic good book on computers will assist you in how to partition your drive.

I would also suggest you pick up an old copy of Dos for Dummies. Good luck.
