I got this as a joke e-mail......But it's so simple in it's conception that it could just might maybe work...... :flowers:

Take 40,000 people.....give them each 1 million dollars under these conditions...
1) they must agree to quit their job's...this creates 40,000 new job's..
2) they must agree to buy an "American " made car.....this fixes the Car industries problem's..
3) they must agree to buy a new house......this fixes the Housing mess.....

whadda ya think?? :trumpet:

Well yep it would fix everything :flowers: , Where the World's Governments have failed to stabilise Economies with around £5 Trillion spent on helping various parts of the Economy (Mainly Financial Sector), Where Jobless in America have rose on average by over 500,000 per month for the last 4-5 months and Jobless in the UK have increased on average by around 50,000-60,000 per month for the last 4-5 months.

Where Financial Sector Giants like AIG lost over $60 Billion in the 4th Quarter (Over $100 billion for 2008) nearly enough to cover the UK Defence Budget for 2 years (With the UK having about the 3rd or 4th Highest Defence Budget in the World after the US, Russia and probably China), Or the full year losses could get the whole Education Budget paid for a year, With the UK's 3rd biggest bank RBS losing £24 billion ($34 billion) over 2008.

With Construction and Manufacturing having basically fallen off a Mountain.

Yep I'm sure even that $40 billion Dollars given to 40,000 people will sort the World Economy out, brilliant  , if only those Politicians thought of this :trumpet:, I'd like to congratulate Einstein for this wonderful thinking if only I could have a little bit of this so called intelligence.

Yep Sarcasm is a wonderful thing :inlove:

I'll take my million now, quit my job ($30,000, I gave myself a raise), buy a new F-150 CrewCab ($40,000), and buy an existing house ($150,000). Total Spent $220,000 Total remaining $780,000.

So with that money I'd start a business doing something like a Green WISP (Wireless internet service provider). Just to get the extra grants and keep the cash flowing in.

No sarcasm here

Give everybody working a million dollar bonus and then tax it at 90%.
I'm squeezing blood out of nickles now so imagine what I could do with $100,000.

wow we really are socialist. and the fact that people even consider solutions like this, i just dont know. why do we still mention capitalism and USA in the same sentence?

maybe because the Aussie Leader was complimented by Americans in giving the Poor People a few Bonuses to keep the Economy rolling?

They diddn't get a Million Bucks, just around $AU1.000, but it worked.
They spent every cent of it, straight back into the Economy, not paying out Millions in Bonuses like America's Offering?

i get that government help may be necessary, i really do. but do we really need to declare ourselves as a capitalist nation? we aren't. i wish people would recognize the reality. but what can i do, except accept the reality that most people only have ears for what they want to hear and will never migrate to an idea that accepts other forms of stimulus, (not necessarily the current plan) other than capitalism. what is wrong with other forms? most people haven't even considered the ramifications because they are ignorant/ and or stupid.

 , sorry no offence to those working for GM and I do hope something well goes for GM, but as it seems GTK48 is pointing out with that picture they are pretty much (whats the word.....) "boned", it sounds like they are going to have to file for bankruptcy protection on recent news - GM Bankruptcy 'Looks More Likely'

Unless a miracle happens GM looks to be heading for what the Americans call "Chapter 11" or Bankruptcy protection for everyone else, I just can't see them bringing out a credible business plan which will help them relieve that massive debt, don't hold me to this I might be proved wrong just my opinion on it.

Anyway wonder what others think about GM?
Do you think they will file for Bankruptcy protection?

And if Fiat get to take over GM's Europe companies, Vauxhall (British), Saab (Swedish) and Opel (German), it could lead to 10,000 of the 55,000 employed losing there jobs, with suspicions that a Vauxhall factory will be closed here and one in Germany which employs around 3500, Vauxhall only has around 4500 employed there's over 25,000 in Germany and over 7000 in Spain but with the luck of British companies it is us who will cop it leading to more being unemployed it's already hit 2.22 million, this was confirmed today, 244,000 people lost there jobs in the last 3 months - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8046128.stm

define "American" made car. Foreign car "companies" make there cars here in the United States, so in a sense those cars too are American made. The only way to really help the auto industry (with your proposed plan) is to make those 40,000 people buy only GM cards.

Even Ford is foreign owned. http://www.time.com/time/business/article/...1725633,00.html

Ford isn't foreign owned, the story you linked to is Ford selling off 2 British car manufacturers (Jaguar and Land Rover) to Tata Motors (Indian car company), almost all British car manufacturers are foreign owned, Only Aston Martin is British owned anymore (Well of the Major ones anyway, there are plenty of other smaller ones), even Ford has a small stake in Aston Martin, Vauxhall used to be owned by GM now it will be taken over by Magna (Canadian car parts manufacturer).

UK figures for cars were released yesterday, 2 Fords were the best sellers in June (Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus) another Ford was 8th (Ford Mondeo) - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8135717.stm

I see the word "foreign" alot. In todays market, the word seems meaningless. Your American made car is full of components made in other countries. Its the same with most other products. The labels we trusted can not be trusted now. The loss of trusted labels causes fear and panic. Relax, take a chill pill, there is nothing you can do about it now. Its just too big a problem for one mind, so find some humor in it and laugh.

Here you go, Mate?

Can we treat it as a Laugh?

How about this for an idea, just from an Aussie? (Tongue in cheek?)

Most of the American Positions of Power take heaps of Money to ascend up to up there, why not let the Positions be Salary Free and let them pay their own expenses? That would save Billions. Or should you just make the Selection Process just even to all.
