I have no clue as to why this would be happening. Have you previously had a virus infection that you've recovered from? It could be that a remnant of an infection is causing this.

No....I have never had a problem with my Vista system. (except I stumbled on a file named "@" filename "%1" supposedly put there by W32/Protoride-ad worm. My Avast nor SpyBot , Malwarebytes never picked up a problem) I am grateful for all of your help. I think I will let it go for a while and see what happens. If it gets worse, I will post back. It is a very strange problem and I think it may be difficult to diagnose. I will just deal with it since I still have the functionality (even if it takes 2-3 tries) I wonder if it could be a remnant of a program (process explorer, etc.) I have un-installed......... I don't know.

Thanks again....I hope you're there when I have a major problem.
