Did open source suddenly change in it's definition or am I missing the point? I thought this included universal use on hardware as the end user sees fit as long as it's done with open source software.

I differentiate between "Open Source" and "Free Software." Free Software is just that: Free (as in free speech.) Open Source just means that the source code is available, it doesn't necessarily convey the same rights to the user as does Free Software.

Aha, a free thinker. Thanks Andrew, you just made my point for me.

The Free vs Open Source is a commonly misconstrued discussion amongsty people who don't understand the difference. Had I stated that as Free Software, I suspect there would have been a lot more furious responses condemning mis-interpretation.

That being said, there are a lot of intelligent idiots out there. Yes I know that is an Oxymoron.

Think about it though, the big companies don't involve themselves in the social communities online to the extent that they defend or attack. They rather try to control other companies from taking their steam away.

Agreement between Microsoft and Apple. Apple made BOOTCAMP to make a BOOTCAMP Partition to allow the Operating System to be hosted in on that partition. It isn't illegal, even if it were agreed. You have the Windows in hand ready to install. BOOTCAMP is good.

This sends a message that we own you.... The tags were a nice addition.... I found no useful point in this, as I've already posed the question about monopolizing.

The only person with relevant topics seem to come from Amazing Andrew.

who cares, isnt it kinda sacriligouse to put a mac on a PC anyway? lol my best friend found a computer tower that was modeled after a apple server tower for his custom build (it looked like a apple server but was designed for PC) and he was braggin about it, and Im like you know, no matter how you look at it, if your a PC lover your insulting PCs by makin it look like a apple, and if your a apple lover your insulting apple by putting a PC into it. he just smiled and gave me that dear in the headlights look like he usually does. . .but hey each to their own.

Apple's 1 year warranty doesn't compare to a free 3 yr warranty on an intel home brew machine with 5 yr warranty on Seagate Harddrives, and a liftime warranty on Ram.

i have an old e-machene with a sempron processor in it and 2 gigs of ram that runs OSx 10.5.6 perfectly ..i played WoW and a few other games on it and it ran like clockwork.. it's what made my decision to buy a real Mac shortly afterward.

To answer your question in short "YES" you can run it on a normal PC but you will be spending alot of time hacking and programming it to run on PC hardware and even then it's pure luck to have it be compatible. Or the last option is to buy an EFIx for around $300 and then check its hardware compatability and buy new hardware such as a new motherboard and processor and a videocard to make it work ..and by the time your done with that you might as well just buy a REAL mac ..lol

Like ive said, i think its technically possible, CPU wise should be no problem, Ive heard of people doing it, its just some of the drivers you may have problems with. :D

So far you're right AA, not that they don't have that idea as part of their 'vision'.
