I'm running vista home premium 32 bit, on a dell inspiron 1525 laptop and have encountered all kinds of application errors since downloading and installing Java version 6 update 12 .
Would a system restore correct the issue? If so How would I make it the date of 2/10/2009 when my computer was running at it's best according to the performance and reliability logs.
I've tried uninstalling update 12 and reinstalling without sucess, what do you suggest? It was running very well with update 11 but that is no longer available.

I thought I might be infected with something but just ran super anti-spyware scan and it removed a bunch of ad-ware tracking cookies. I've tried to do anti malware scan but when I go to check the logs something sends me to windows media gallery??, And I don't know why. I have used this software sucessfully before (6 months ago) but had to do a complete install with drivers , and have just now tried to download this software again. all my updates are current except for SP1, which created a bunch of headaches. So I asked Microsoft to help me remove it. they did. that was almost a year ago.

Please help

Go to: Start...All Programs...Accessories...System Tools...System Restore.
Follow the prompts to select a restore point according to the dates that are listed.

Thanks for the reply. I have a couple issues: afte I chose system system restore it automatically starts running without the option of picking from a list of dates, and that date is probably within the last 2 days. When I encounter" Restore system files and settings" I click on the link after the phrase to create a restore point, "open system protection". From this point I am unable to see any list from which to pick or chose a restore date. I want to set it to 02/10/09. Do you have any idea what I'm doing incorrectly?

I appreciate your help.

My only suggestion would be to try System Restore from the Recovery Environment. To do this, follow the steps in this article until you see the selection for System Restore: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/repair-windows-with-windows-startup-repair/

Beyond that, the person at this link has probably forgotten more about System Restore than I ever knew: http://bertk.mvps.org/html/vista.html See if there's anything there that will help you out.

I have a passing familiarity with System Restore - but know absolutely nothing about Java or JavaScript.

Good luck!
