It's true that brunt didn't explain how to do those registry hacks to tweak XP, but he did leave a link to Kelly's Korner. Look around that site and read the instructions at the top of the page. Most of those tweaks are regfiles and they are pretty easy to do. I don't know why brunt gave this warning at the end:
Quote
You should be careful with these regfiles tho. It's not real clear what some of them do, and some don't offer an easy way to reverse the change if you aren't familiar with the registry. So if you want to try some, or have problems with any let me know and I'll help you with them.
I can tell you what brunt did with these tweaks. RegFiles are easy to make. Just open Notepad, copy and paste the lines in one of those tweaks, and save as "All Files". This will give a .reg extension instead of .txt, and when you double-click it the regfile executes and asks you if you are sure you want to merge that file into the registry. To read the contents of the file, you can Open With Notepad or change the extension back to .txt. All brunt did was open with Notepad and copied the contents into this thread.
Some of Kelly's files don't download, but open in Notepad, so you can practice making a regfile. Here's one--I have no idea what this does.

Not to belabor the obvious, but do you suppose that businesses that generate millions of dollars of online revenue probably have the cash to hire talented and clever programmers who are well aware of registry cleaners, and the other various tools and techniques available to the general public? Do you suppose that in the interest of protecting their investments that they are going to employ extraordinary means? And do you really think that some simple reg hacks are going to fix that? Let's be a little realistic here.
Besides, what you are really asking us to do is to help you circumvent security measures. That is a no-no here. If we can help you with anything else, please feel free to ask.. just don't ask us to help you do this.

Others are optional to 'iffy'. But I'm sure that they all do work.
To get all or any part of that thing into a workable file, just copy and paste it into a blank Notepad (not Wordpad) document and save it with the name "anynameyouwant.reg".
As you can see in my example, the name is not important. What IS important is that the extension must be ".reg". (minus the quotes, of course)
Anything else just won't work.
That first line:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
is absolutely mandatory. Without that line, the whole thing is useless.
I've used many of these "tweaks" in my own registry tweaking file, but not all of them, nor would I want too.
As I said, some of the tweaks are 'IFFY' in my honest opinion.
Many can change the operation of windows, but will add nothing to the actual system performance.
One of the first tweaks, to decrease shutdown time has the number 3000 in it. That's three seconds. I find that one second, a value of 1000, works just fine. When you're striving for maximum performance, 2 seconds is a lifetime.
One second is the least time that is permissable in windows XP.
I hope this little example and turorial has been of help to Someone, Somewhere.
Cheers, y'all,
