My daughter can not get into her computer. When she signs in using her password she gets the invalid password note. She is positive that it is the correct password. I asked her to go through what she had done while logged on the day before and evidently she deleted some things that were pulled up with the McAffee virus scanner. I think what happened is that she ended up deleting a couple of registry lines or something that controlled this.

What I have done-She has the Windows Vista Home premium disc so I used it to try to do a system restore hoping that it would take care of this, but it didn't. Is there any other solution other than to reinstall Vista? We are trying to not go that route unless there is a way to save all of her personal files, pictures etc. There is a program called Windows Password Reset 6.0. I was wondering if this would work? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

She was running the Vista 64-bit version.

(I am not completely computer illiterate, but please take into account that I am also no computer wiz either  ) So please any elaboration on the suggestions made would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks
ozhawk

It is against the policy of BleepingComputer to provide information on methods to reset or bypass the Administrator password. Though your question is most likely legitimate, there are others who may read this topic and use the information for less savory reasons. It is for these reasons we do not provide this type of information.
