Okay, Im planning using Dariks Boot-N-Nuke (DBAN) to wipe my computer since its so screwed up with the root kits and all... My mother actually went out and bought another computer because she didnt feel like trying to fix it so im gonna hopefully put it in my room. I was wondering if after i ran DBAN if i could install the windows Vista OS that my mom got with her computer and put it on mine rather than having XP. Thanks for all the help feel free to suggest on the DBAN and whether i should use it or not.

Thanks, Greg

Sorry, but you can't do it legally, and quite a few of the manufacturer's put things on the disk to prevent you from installing it at all.
Also, with 2 copies of Vista registered you're likely to find problems with activation and Windows Updates.

Without activation you'll only be able to use it for 30 days - and without Windows Updates you'll be vulnerable to many different security issues that the updates take care of.

You should be able to boot from the DBAN CD and run it from there. That will wipe everything off of the disk.
