BleepingComputer.com: win 7 / vista issue

Hi,

I recently added win7 / vista to my computer. The issue I am having is it takes a minimum of at least 4 minutes to boot up. When I push power up button I get the system count and then I get a curser in top left hand corner of my screen that sits there for 3 minutes before I get a message of "program not found skipping autocheck" and then my system boots up. What is causing this and why does it take so long?

There appears to be a corruption of the OS here. Skipping autocheck means that the system can't find the files necessary to do this - so it skips it. BUT, first it takes it's time in looking for it.

Another thing to try is:
Once in Windows, go to Start and type "cmd" (without the quotes). At the top of the search box will be an entry for cmd. Right click on it and select "Run as Administrator".
In the black box that opens, type "sfc.exe /scannow" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Let the scan run (it takes a long while). When it's finished, the Window that it opened will just disappear. Once that's done, reboot and see if that fixes things.
