Computer takes 6min to bootup 2min to login, 2min to welcome screen, 2min to load startup programs

Toshiba Satelite SD300E
1.83 Duo core processor
1GB ram
200 GB Hard drive in four partitions One a 4GB swapfile, 4096 MB size.
NVida graphics card
Windows XP home edition OEM
2003 MS Office Pro
WordPerfect V12
Avg AntiVirus V8.1
Save mode boot up also very slow.
Have run defrag and chkdsk no change in boot up
Unchecked unecessary startup items.
Hijkthis analysis checked OK

Only error in system event log is DHCP but internet and email work fine.
Read and did a lot of the slow boot suggestions without any improvement.
My old Toshiba boots up in 3 minutes running MS Student & teacher instead of MS office Pro rest is the same.

Can you please help me to identify the problem and get this computer to boot faster?

First thing I would do...remove any/all startups that relate to MS Office.

When using Autoruns, use only the Login tab when looking for startup items. Leave the others alone, for the moment.

Thanks for all the help.
I finally gave up trying to find the cause and wiped the C: reinstalled OS and programs. computer now starts in 1 min 10 sec which is very acceptable now.
What is a very good complete registry back-up and restore? MS suggested registry back-up just isn't reliable for me.

I don't backup my registry (over-confident user not afraid of clean-installing) but informed personnel seem to think highly of ERUNT Registry Backup Tool - http://www.snapfiles.com/get/erunt.html

Wouldn't System Resore do the trick for backing up the registry?

I have Erunt but am wondering what benefit there is to using that instead of System Resotre.

Does anyone know if there is any difference between what Erunt backs up in the registry and the registry files that System Restore backs up, and what reasons one would use the Erunt backup instead of the System Restore feature?

As far as I understand, system restore doesn't back up the entire registry; whereas, Erunt does. If you want to get into greater discussion of the differences and how the two work, I'd suggest starting a new topic. :flowers:
