I am having a problem with removing an short cut from my desktop on my Toshiba laptop running Windows Vista . I have already removed the program and when I attempt to remove the Icon I get a window that says " You need permission to perform this action" I am the administrator and owner of this computer . Turning the UAC off ( it stays off ) does nothing to help. I have gone through everything I know to do. But I still cannot remove this short cut. I hope someone out there has a solution as this is really frustrating.

Have you tried right clicking on the icon and then selecting "Run as Administrator?"
