I don't know much about overclocking AMD processors either, but here is a very detailed, and easy to understand article from toms hardware: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/phenom...thlon,2161.html . From what I take from it, if you have a black edition, it's easier to just raise the multiplier, but if it's not a black edition, there's a reference clock (kind of like the FSB on Intel processors) that you can raise. The reference clock multiplied by the multiplier=clock speed. There's more to it of course, but that's the basic concept.

Well, an Athlon and Intel (im assuming your talking about Pentium Duo Core or Core 2 Duo) will have the same basis on OC. You just go into the bios and then change the multiplier, like the FSB, or in AMD, the reference clock. To be honest, a Black Edition PHENOM x4 will be much easier to OC, although it's just a matter of how much and how strong your Processor was to begin with.

Go to overclockers.com. There is a lot of information on over clocking just about every thing in a computer. How to's on cooling when you over clock. ect. The information is for Intel and AMD.
