I'm sure you mean imminent not intimate.
It is a warning tha you hard drive is about to go south, permanently
What is the make and model of the computer?
Run CHKDSK:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265
Scroll down to Manual steps to run Chkdsk from My Computer or Windows Explorer and follow the directions
Start making plans to back up you documents, settings, pictures, etc

why won't my laptop work?
Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
Do not send me PMs with problems that should be posted in the forums. Keep it in the forums, so everyone benefits

I had just the same problem and I thought I had to buy another harddrive. I did. But then it happened with this new Hd and then finally someone asked me how long I had the PC. 4 or 5 years. Then they said it may be the batterey on the motherboard. Batterey??? Sure enough,
there was the batterey. All I had to do was to replace it for a few bucks. Go figure.
It is called a cmos backup battery, and it is on the motherboard. I thought it may help someone else to check.
