On RedDawn about the crippleware...no it is not, although it asks to install that as part of their business model, the program itself is not affected by it!

Grinler, hold the phone, please! Here is the link for the information about the Unoffical patch on ZDNet for this 0-day info on Adobe

Ah, it seems I may have been misinformed, I don't use Foxit and was going on second-hand info, thanks Jay-P.

They are both good PDF readers and for the majority of folks that only need a program to read PDFs, either is preferrable to Adobe, in my opinion.

FWIW - both open PDFs much faster than Adobe, which is a bonus, too.

I agree JohnWho, just was adding the information that was given for foxit, so you have comparison data. Not trying to convert anyone here ^^.
I still dont like the ask toolbar thing. They have been very aggressive lately and the fact that its opt-out rather than opt-in, its another minus for me.

That's what a part of what BC is all about! Options for free alternatives that are probably better than the competing one (in the current case, alternatives to Adobe!

Though the patch most likely works properly, I am not comfortable recommended a patch to a well-known software.

When trying to access local government or local charity documents, they have often been produced in something like Adobe Reader 7 or some other quite out-dated Sun Java application. Years after updates were available when compared to the original date on the documents.

You folks have all been very helpful! Thanks to Grinler, Jay V-P, Amazing Andrew, and the rest of the crew posting here! thumbup.gif

I think I may have already fallen prey to a hacker due to this vulnerability, based on the problems I've been having. If so, is there anything I can do at this point?
