BleepingComputer.com: Need help with mouse, keyboard and Internet don't work after virus attack

I have been searching for help. My brother in law's computer was infected. I have been trying to help, I installed several Malware Remover softwares, and apparently I was successful. The softwares don't find anything else, but the problems persist. The computer mouse, keyboard, and Internet don't work, but in safe mode. I posted in the Malware Remover's forum, and they didn't find anything wrong with the logs either. They suggested to search help from the experts in this forum. I don't know what else to do. He bought the computer as a second hand and does not have the CD's to make a new formatting, he asked the guy who sold him the computer, but he does not know what he did with them. His Laptop is an ACER and mine is a COMPAQ, I have the Recovery CD's but I am afraid it will make it worse if I try to format his computer with the CD's Recovery I have, because they are different brands, even though we both use XP.
