BleepingComputer.com: iTunes warning

Hello everyone,

I have another problem...I'm getting this message when I start iTunes..."Warning! The registry setting used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CD's and DVD's are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes." So I've reinstalled iTunes about 3 times already and I'm still getting this message. I did install another burning software call " Sonic Record Now!" but I uninstalled this program altogether and I'm still getting the error message from iTunes. Does any one know what I can do?

Hello TexasWayne, I am moving this from XP to Apple/DOS/PDA/Other forum to put more eyes on it.

Ok, I tried the steps outlined in the link provided but it didn't work. The upper filters and the lower filters were not there. Any ideas....

I was looking around and found 2 possible solutions ...
One was to update the drivers. iTunes uses Gear Software drivers to read and write to CDs.
You can find the updated drivers at GEAR Drivers.

It requires a Registry edit. so please read this..
A suggestion has been made that involves modifying the registry. Modifying the registry can be dangerous (and can render your system unbootable) so it's advisable that you make a backup of the registry before proceeding.
Modification of the registry can be EXTREMELY dangerous if you do not know exactly what you are doing so follow the steps that are listed below EXACTLY. if you cannot perform some of these steps or if you have ANY questions please ask BEFORE proceeding.

Backing Up Your Registry

• Go Here and download ERUNT
  (ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility NT) is a free program that allows you to keep a complete backup of your registry and restore it when needed.)
  
• Install ERUNT by following the prompts
  (use the default install settings but say no to the portion that asks you to add ERUNT to the start-up folder, if you like you can enable this option later)
  
• Start ERUNT
  (either by double clicking on the desktop icon or choosing to start the program at the end of the setup)
  
• Choose a location for the backup
  (the default location is C:\WINDOWS\ERDNT which is acceptable).
  
• Make sure that at least the first two check boxes are ticked
  
• Press OK
  
• Press YES to create the folder.

OK, I tried updating the drivers from "Gear" and it worked! That was all I had to do. Thank you so much for your help in this matter I can't thank you enough!
