Hey, i was wondering if it was possible to modify the HOST.txt file so that i can block certain file extensions such as .exe,.zip, etc. so that it is blocked from displaying in web browsers. I tried going into the host.txt file and adding "127.0.0.0 .exe" and that didn't make any difference.

It is not entirely clear what it is you're modifying.
system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS ?
or some other hosts.txt file
HOSTS file has no extension.
That said, if I think what you want is the HOSTS file, then you can't do it. It is meant for IPs, not .exe and other files. For those a firewall of some sort is normally used.

Here is a reference to the HOSTS file I'm talking about.
