Alright here is the deal,
I have a 20gb hard drive running as a slave in windows xp media center, when I click on the drive Icon it says that it needs to be formatted. So I push ok, at the next screen it says there is only 7.89gb available, This hard drive is empty but I think it has been partitioned. What do I need to do to get use of the full drive?

If the drive has been partitioned you either need to delete the partitions & reformat the drive or merge the partitions.
IMO, The easiest way would be to hook the drive up [temporarily] as Master, boot a XP [or other Windows boot disk ] , delete the partitions & for mat the drive.

You can use Power Quest Partition Magic to see if you have any partitions and you can also merge partitions with it.
Else, use Gparted, it is the same as the one mentioned above.
