editing pics

When ever I crop a picture and save it to a floppy disk I don't get what I cropped. I seem to lose most of the picture. Any body know how I can stop this from happening? Thank you
What I mean is most of picture gets grayed out

What program are you using to crop these images?
Q6600, 4GB g-skill, 8800GT, P5N-D motherboard

I am using aol and when I get the pic I just right click it and thats where I edit it.Like I said when I crop it to take parts out and hit except and save to floppy drive it starts saving then half of picture grays out. Thank you for your reply

I would suggest using a picture editor to crop a picture after downloading it to your hard drive. It sounds like the editor you are using is indeed cropping the picture, but retains the overall size (hence the gray border). IrfanView, a free photo editor, is one that I used for cropping as well as many other editing functions.
