BleepingComputer.com: long beeping sound

my friend wanted to try his memory thing on my computer, i dont know the name all i know is its the thing that comes out on your my computer properties
the "gigabites of ram, mine displays 1.99gb of RAM"
thats the thing he tried,

so what he did was he put his in my computer, to see if his worked because on his it only reads half, thats not the point, the point is

ever since then, (not knowing if thats really the problem okay) but ever since then
my computer has gotten slower,
and it makes this weird BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP sound nonstop, it just keeps on. sometimes if i close my browser exammple right now theres no beeping sound, but if i surf the net or play a game that sound comes back

please help me here or email me at moderator edit, im afriad something bad myt happen
and yes the memory things are mine that are on thebrand name is TEAM ELITE.

please help me get rid of that beeping sound.

id take it out and put the old sticks back in. the beep can be 1 of two things that comes to mind (i dont know everything so its possible theres others) but the first two things that comes to mind is A: memory error, however most of the time with memory errors the computer wont even boot up, the other scenario this is my best guess if the computer is booting up all the way is overheating-many motherboards will make a loud and constant beep anytime the system or CPU temp hits a the danger level. in any case the loud beep is most likely not a good sign. you can monitor CPU temp by software as coretemp which is easy to download install and run. run it and tell me what temperature it is running at. another way to find out is to boot into your bios and go to the hardware monitoring section and look at the temps.

it might also help to look up the memory compatibility list on your computer manufacturers home site.

What it sounds like you are describing is a RAM module, did you remove it from your computer after trying it? If not do so.

If you have removed it and are getting this audio alert go back and make sure that the other modules are properly seated, there are clips at either end of the socket that should be point straight up.

Dod you have the computer unplugged while changing the memory ?
If not there is a good chance you damaged the memory sticks.

Try removing the memory & reinstalling making sure it is seated properly.


Also, Tell your friend that the reason his computer only shows half the memory is because it's high density memory & his computer needs low density memory.

It also depends on where you are reading the memory figure, if you are looking at System Properties it will only show the amount that isn't being currently used, to see the total physical amount of RAM you need to look in System Information.

Some will show all that the motherboard recognizes.
Some will show all that the motherboard recogxizes minus what is being used for the onboard video .

If you put a 1GB stick in & the unit has 64MB of onboard video it may only show as 960MB on the General page of the System Properties .

If you put a 1GB stick in & it only shows 512MB on the system properties that indicates the memory is high density & only half is being recognized.

If you put 1GB of high density memory in , the motherboard only uses low density, & you have 64MB onboard video it may only show as 448MB on the system properties.

There are many sellers on ebay, & other sites, that sell cheap memory that is high density.
The reason the memory is so cheap is the memory chips are odd configurations that are used to achive the total capacity.
IF you have a motherboard with a chipset that recognizes high density memory it usually works well .

Not long ago I bought a 2GB dual channel PC4200 [533MHz] kit from newegg.
[G.Skill F2-4200PHU2-2GBLA DDR2 PC4200]

I put them in the computer they were bought for & only showed 1GB in the system properties.
I had another unit handy with the same type/amount but a different brand .
I swapped the memory in the computers & ended up with 2GB showing on both.

the computers main power was unplugged when the memory sticks were taken out. i took them out several times and put them back in, i even tested them 1 by on by only using 1 it still made the sound.
i have a gigabyte mother board so it comes with that program, my temp, is only 87/100 on the cpu and says tahts its "OK"
i seriously cant even figure out the problem, i went over all of it 1by1 making sure it was all connected together.

up, my computer lags on games now, and if im on youtube all i have to do is simply move the mouse and it starts to make the video look like a dvd rewinding. it lags.

when it lags on games is it only when your playing the multiplayer over the internet, or are they singleplayer as well?

counterstrike source doesnt lag over the internet, which means most of them dont lag right?
but youtube lags even if i just move my mouse, simple website games like games on facebook that stay in the tab lag
my computer has been really slow lately.
my RAM is actually getting pretty hot, right now theres no beeping sound, but if i start a game it starts up again.

update, that long beeping sound has changed
from being 1 annoying BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEp whenever i play something
to beeep....... beeep....... and sumtimes its gone, but now checking my feet per second on the game
my latency(ping) is really low, but my feet per seconds is really low as well, it wasnt like that before.
and my other games lag as well. like gta 4 etc.

do you have a way of monitoring your system temperature? not the CPU, the system? as well as the video card temp?

not really, well as i know of? my video card is built in btw

here are the specs that ima throw in the next post, but please keep in mind, the beeping sound isnt as frequent but my FEET PER SECOND IN GAMES is crazy slow, and its really dropped alot performance wize, like its really slow on games, delaying etc...

this has all happend since i updated BIOS
before it wouldnt lag, but i updated bios now its killin my games even more than just that annoying beeping sound. but the sound has really toned down alot
