BleepingComputer.com: How do I Make a Certian Type of Signature?

Hope this forum will do; I am unsure where else to put this.

I have seen these all over different forums and have always been curious how to make them or where they come from. I am speaking of the thin horizontal bar that is sometimes colored or logoed which states (generally) someone is a fan of some program or a part of some group. It most often appears in a person's signature, and they are sometimes stacked. For example, I've seen one that was orange and blue and read "Firefox User". Another I've seen says "Hijackthis Trainee" (or something similar, I don't remember the exact wording).
Just wondering how to make these or where to get them. I like them, and would like to use/create my own.
