BleepingComputer.com: iMovie '08 on iMac

Problem with iMovie '08:

I get no sound when I record video from Camera using "Import from Camera", I was getting it before.

I get sound from the built in mirophone in GarageBand '08 and with recording video in PhotoBooth (don't favour PhotoBooth because everything is reversed).

I've checked around in the setting and changed which didn't seem to work, anyone got any ideas?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey Izzy,

A few things you can try.

-Boot off of the Install DVD and Repair Disk with Disk Utility
-Reboot to the startup disc to Repair Permissions with Disk Utility
-Delete the iMovie Preference file (com.apple.iMovie7.plist) from ~/Library/Preferences, logout and bnack into your account
-Safe Boot

I had to guess on which one I would try first so I tried "Repair Permissions" and it worked a treat. Thanks very much, something new I learnt.

Glad it worked out for you Izzy. It doesn't hurt to run Repair Permissions once in a while, especially after installing software updates. Also running maintenance on your Mac helps to keep it running smoothly, even then glitches do happen occasionally.
