Just that,

Is there a way to use a current Vista instillation to access a previous Vista instillations backups?

I've tried doing this with a new Vista instillation and found it won't let you do this.

Is there a way to do it anyhow?

Thanks,

John

When you install a operating system it overwrites the previous data, and every time you use the computer it continues to overwrite this data. I don't think you have much of a chance of recovering those files short of very expensive forensic techniques.

Could you provide more details about the method that you use to do the backup, the contents of the backups. and any error messages that you may get when you try to access them?

Hi Guys,

I'm sorry I forgot to make clear that the backups are on a different partition then the one with the re-instillation of Vista on it.

IE., they are still available but the new instillation will not recognize then as "Recoverable".

But, I'm still hoping that I can recover them.

 OH, these are backups form Vista's Backup Utility.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

John
