There has been a lull in new releases of rogue anti-spyware programs over the past month or so. Unfortunately, this lull seems to have been broken over the past week. From the same developers of HDriveSweeper and System Tuner, a new rogue anti-spyware program named XpyBurner has been released.

XpyBurner is a new clone of an older rogue released in Feb 2008 named SpyBurner. Though SpyBurner was Trojan advertised, we do not currently see this behaviour with XpyBurner. Judging by past behavior, though, it most likely will be in the near future. If you get infected with XpyBurner we have put together a removal guide which I have linked to after the following excerpt from the guide.

XpyBurner is a rogue anti-spyware program that is a clone of an earlier rogue named SpyBurner. XpyBurner is currently not advertised by any known means, but as was done with SpyBurner, we assume that it will be advertised through the use of Trojans.
