Hello I have vista ultmite 32bit and my device manager says I have an unknown device and it needs the driver. the motherboard is an Asus P5E-VM HDMI BTW I'm doing a clean install on this computer please help me find the driver.

here is the info I have under the device manager:

Name: Unknown Device
Device type: Other devices
Manufacture: unknown
Location: Port_#0001.Hub_#0007

DEvice Status:

this device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)

There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

Right click on the device and select Properties
Click on the Details tab
In the dropdown box, select Hardware ID
There will be a string of letters and numbers:
- PCI devices have 4 characters following the VEN_ string, and 4 characters following the DEV_ string.
- USB devices have 4 characters following the VID_string, and 4 characters following the PID_ string.
- other devices may have different stuff - in that case we'll need the entire string of info.

Provide us with the information above and we'll have a look see to find out what it is.
For PCI devices I look at http://www.pcidatabase.com
For USB devices I look at http://www.linux-usb.org/usb.ids
For the rest of the stuff, I'll start with the system specs and a Google search.

**If you need a more detailed explanation, please ask for it. I have the Knack. **

Thanks I already figured it out but I had to go to work so I could not delete the post. It was my LCD display on the front of my case.
