I decided to swap my windows xp for windows vista ultimate, so i put the dvd in the computer, and started the install procedure, everything is fine until i selected what partition to install vista on, i picked the one there, and i pressed format, after that it started the install, and i got this error when it was about to expand files. i've tried 5-6 times, and with two different dvds.. still same error ( 0x8007048F )

i will put the _exact_ message in and edit here in about 10 minutes, doing another try right now, i just thought someone might know something from the error code!

Most errors of this type appear to be related to disk issues or Windows Media Player. Since this is a fresh install, the most likely case is that there are disk issues.

How many hard drives are in your system?
How are they described in the System BIOS (SATA/IDE, Master/Slave, etc)?
How many partitions are on each drive (and which one are you installing the Vista on?)?

I'd start with running a diagnostic on your hard drive (from the manufacturer of the hard drive). The most common one's are linked to in this topic: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic28744.html

You may also want to run chkdsk /r from the command prompt from the Startup Repair option on your Vista DVD ( http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/repair-windows-with-windows-startup-repair/ )
