Good Morning: I build custom computers privately. My latest build is a Midtower Antec 300 case w/ Thermaltake TR2-430 watt PS, 320 gig HDD, 2 gigs of Corasair 800Mhz ram and a Nvidia eGeForce 8600 GTS graphics card. Question, is the Tri-core worth the difference in price of $22.00 against the AMD 6000 Duo-core?? I respect many of you here, and wish to bounce this choice off you. I will sell this computer for around $500.00, Thanks for the input,Alan

That depends, do you want an additional core? Few of the triple core CPU's have clock speeds over 2.4GHz. Most computer programs out today do not utilize more than two cores, so I say go with the X2 6000 with its higher speed per core and save the money.

The dual-core is probably the better choice as DJBPace07 said. Don't forget, the tri-cores are made from quad-cores that had one core go bad.

You both bring up good points, thanks, I'll stick with the Duo and spend that extra on 2 more gigs of Ram. I need it for a 64 bit OS, if that is what the new client wants. Alan
