Hoping someone can help me out! When I put a CD/DVD into the tray, as soon as it closes the computer shuts down (crashes). I have checked the cd/dvd devices to make sure it is working properly, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver and much to my dismay..the problem is not fixed. What could this be? Please help!!!!

What CD/DVD are you using?

Are you saying that every CD and/or every DVD results in a crash? Without even beginning to run?

Yes, no matter what I put in, as soon as it closes it crashes. The CD/DVD info is:

an LG

HL-DT-STDVDRAM GSA-4167B

Thanks for your reply!

Does it crash even if you close the tray without putting a disc in? Have you checked all the connections to the drive?

Yes have checked the connections and does not crash when empty. As soon as the computer attempts to 'read' the cd..the computer crashes.

*kristin* I have checked the cd/dvd devices to make sure it is working properl

so you put the drive in a other computer and see if it works
if it dosent work in the other computer then a firmware update may fix it but probloy not lol
