ASUS K8S-LA (Salmon) Motherboard

This is the motherboard that came installed in my HP a810n PC, so I have no drivers to manually reinstall, HP nor Asus provided from none for download that I could find. I found to sites that had the drivers and required sign up, but had registration issues when I attempted



I uninstalled and through device manager let Windows reinstall the drivers or update them via Windows update, they still won't work, the USB devices do operate on other PCs.

Oddly, before I repaired my PC 2 days ago after boot.ini ( Previous Issue: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...amp;pid=1079282 ) mishap the usb devices worked fine in the LiveCD environment, but stopped working once Windows was recovered.

Using a ps/2 mouse in the meantime and unplugged all the usb devices.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

It seems that they make it easy to get a complete set of recovery CDs for your system, I would suggest that you take advantage of the opportunity.

I'm reading very thouroughly right now. I'll be back to let you know how it goes. I did extract those files from that exe though, and none were the four associated with at least the USB, not even including the IEEE and whatever that floppy is.

Don't really know what that's suppose to mean, but I'm headed to read...

If I am understanding properly, USB drivers are like optical drive drivers...they are generic and are supplied by Microsoft during install of the O/S.

The USB support started with SP2 (from what I read), so if the install does not reflect SP2...it needs to be installed before USB 2.0 support can be enabled/take place.

Well Louis I don't know how we did it but however the explanation went my subconscious translated it into a nondestrucstive repair install with the slipstreamed SP2 CD.

For anyone that doesn't know how to do that I will post instructions when I get home. I'm typing from my Pocket PC.
