I am trying to update this driver, but it won't take.
Do I need to go into Device Manager, right-click "Intel Pro 100/VE Network Connection" and choose UNINSTALL and then install the new one?
It seems like it won't overwrite the old driver.
I have these things to choose from:
autorun.exe (7,611MB)
autorun.inf
autorun.ini
APPS (folder)
Platform (Folder)
Pro100 (folder)
Pro1000 (folder)
Proxgb (folder)
Think I just have to uninstall current driver and then click autorun.exe and let it do its thing.
Thanks a lot for any tips.
Jeff

You ran the autorun.exe?
In Device Manager right click and choose "update driver".
The first box asks to connect to "Windows Update" - choose "No,not this time"
Click next.
On the next screen tick the box - "Install from list or specific location"
Next screen has - "Include this location" box. Make sure it's ticked. Click
browse and point it to your Pro100 folder.
This "should" update the driver. If not you can do it as you suggested.
Simply delete the device from Device Manager and reboot. Windows should
detect the card and offer to install it. Point it to the Pro100 folder.
Is this the driver you are trying to install? - PRO2KXP_v13_5.exe

Thanks very much for your reply.
I use Driver Magician to tell me what hardware is out of date.
When I downloaded what it wanted me to for Intel PRO 100/VE it was a 97MB download of zip files. I wasn't sure what to click on, so I clicked autorun.exe. The download website was FTP from intel.com or something similar (nothing shady).
I don't see any file named PRO2KXP_v13_5.exe unfortunately.
Maybe there is a different and better place I can download it?
If I choose to "update driver" I don't get a Windows Update option. All I get is "Welcome to the hardware update wizard" which then asks me for a CD to insert or to manually find the file on my machine.
The problem is that when I search for it on my hard drive it finds 7 different instances of the file, but none of them are V13.5. All of them are from 2007 or older.
Any additional suggestions most appreciated. Thanks again.

Well...my question is, does the connection work without updating the driver?
Besides the software you use...what makes you believe that you need to update the driver?
I take the view (with drivers) that I take with BIOS updates...if I have no problems, why would I update? I don't treat driver/BIOS updates in the same manner that I treat program or O/S critical updates.

Honestly I think you downloaded the wrong file. What Win version
are you using?
Here is the link to PRO2KXP_v13_5.exe:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/download.a...=407〈=eng
I have the same views as Louis on this. "If it ain't broke..."
If the NIC is working properly there's usually nothing to gain by
updating the driver, but plenty to screw up.

Thanks a lot guys. I have no problems w/ connections, just thought it would be prudent to update the driver. I'll try that link you recommended, raw, but thank you both.
