I've got an old Gateway 2000 sitting in my basement that I'm fixing up just for kicks. It needed a new CD drive, etc. I wanted to add some memory but I'm not sure how to find compatible ram. I pulled out one of the ram boards. There's a sticker that reads "4X64DIMM" and the board has three sets of pins. Does anyone know what sort of RAM i should buy?

Can you provide the exact model number for the computer? There is probably a manual available online but you will need the exact model number.

You can go to either memory.com or crucial.com and use their free memory configuator tool, it will tell you what type of RAM you have, how much is installed by default and what the maximum that you can install, once you find this out you can go to newegg.com or tigerdirect.com to purchase the RAM since it is cheaper.
