Hello twcookies and welcome to the BC forums. After reviewing your log I see a few items that require our attention. Please print these directions and then proceed with the following steps in order.
Step #1 Download CCleaner and install it but do not run it yet. Now we need to remove some services. Part 1
Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:
Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [bcivakdrkmm] C:\WINDOWS\System32\kfzjskhn.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Update Machine] MSlti32.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft Update] muamgrd.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [System32 Spool ] winint.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Windows Media Player] lgdjqp.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [msconfig] wins.exe O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [XML Service] msxml.exe O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [Windows Media Player] lgdjqp.exe O9 - Extra button: Related - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Show &Related Links - {c95fe080-8f5d-11d2-a20b-00aa003c157a} - C:\WINDOWS\web\related.htm O15 - ProtocolDefaults: 'http' protocol is in My Computer Zone, should be Internet Zone O16 - DPF: {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000020000000} - http://www.68737075.com/connect/wla/x/ukgolwla3x.exe O16 - DPF: {1D0D9077-3798-49BB-9058-393499174D5D} - file://c:\counter.cab O16 - DPF: {FFFF0003-0001-101A-A3C9-08002B23E0CC} - http://direct.data-line.us/gbn163.exe Step #4 We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\muamgrd.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\setup32.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\kfzjskhn.exe
winint.exe lgdjqp.exe wins.exe msxml.exe Start CCleaner and click on the Run Cleaner button in the lower right-hand corner. When it is finished close CCleaner. Step #6 Reboot normally and run at least 2 of the following on-line virus scans:Make sure that you choose "fix" or "clean". Step #7 AdAware SE Download, install, update, configure and run a scan with Ad-aware SE:
OK. Reboot your computer normally, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Use the Add Reply button to post your new log file back here along with details of any problems you encountered performing the above steps and I will review it when it comes in. OT -------------------- |

OT, thanks a lot for your reply.
Basically, after following your instructions, I'm no longer getting the AVG alarm windows popping up, which is great, thanks again. The only 'problems' I had during the procedure were as follows... In Step#3, the HJT log entry 015 - Protocol Defaults..etc was no longer present on this run of HJT. In Step#4, I couldn't delete c:\windows\system32\setup32.exe as 'access denied', is there a way round that? The other 3 files listed in Step #4 weren't present anyway. The machine is useable now, although when I run AVG virus check scan, it lists about 60 bad files, trojans,,back door sd.bots etc, they are nearly all in the C\SystemVolumeInformation\Restore folder - any ideas how to get rid of these? Here is my current HijackThis result file... Hi twcookies. Looking better but we still have an infection here. Please print these directions and then proceed with the following steps in order.
Step #1 Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it to your desktop. Double-click on KillBox.exe to launch the program.
Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:
O4 - HKCU\..\RunServices: [Windows Media Player] lgdjqp.exe O15 - ProtocolDefaults: 'http' protocol is in My Computer Zone, should be Internet Zone OK. Reboot your computer normally, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Use the Add Reply button to post your new log file back here along with details of any problems you encountered performing the above steps and I will review it when it comes in. As for the files in the Restore area, we will clean those up at the end. OT -------------------- |

Hi twcookies. Can you paste a complete log back here by doing the following:
Start HijackThis and click the Do a system scan and save a log button to perform a scan and create a log file. When the scan is complete, Notepad will open up with the log file in it. While in Notepad, press Ctrl-A to select all text and then Ctrl-C to copy the text to the clipboard. POST the log in this thread using the Add Reply button. Click in the data-entry window and press Ctrl-V to paste the log into the window. Add any other comments which you believe might be helpful in our analysis. and click the Add Reply button. Thanks. Hi twcookies. Your log is clean. Good job! How are things running? Any problems?
We have a couple of last steps to perform and then you're all set. First, let's reset your hidden/system files and folders. System files are hidden for a reason and we don't want to have them openly available and susceptible to accidental deletion.
* Open My Computer. * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options. * Select the View tab. * Under the Hidden files and folders heading UNSELECT Show hidden files and folders. * CHECK the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option. * Click Yes to confirm. * Click OK. Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)
