I was wondering, is it necessary to set my ZoneAlarm firewall on 'Internet Lock' when I log off my computer? It says to only use Internet Lock in emergencies, but I read someplace that it is best to enable IL whenever my computer is not in use. And what exactly would be an "emergency" situation when I should enable Internet Lock or the Stop button? Also, does enabling Internet Lock block any incoming emails or instant messages?

Internet lock stops any internet activity so you won't be able to send or receive email. Think of it as an emergencency stop button. If you have something downloading that you don't want you can use that to stop it. You can access the lock by right clicking the icon.
If you have an always on internet connection like cable and you leave your computer on a lot you can lock the internet activity when your away from it. If you use dialup and the lock then a malware dialer program won't be able to connect without your knowledge, although some of those can disable anti-virus and firewall software. If you have to establish a connection to the internet like with DSL its not neccessary to use the lock.
