Posted Image When posting a log please put the type of infection you have in the topic title. IE: Winfixer, Virtumonde, WinTools, WebSearch, Home Search Assistant, etc.

My brother brought me his laptop after contracting a few fairly obnxious viruses. Here's a quick rundown of the previous symptoms.

1. Changed and then locked out wallpaper
2. locked out of task manager (message stating admin locked out)
3. unable to save changes in msconfig (message stating admin locked out)
4. blocked from comon AV websites.
5. blocked McAfee from running.
6. other problems I can't recall at this point.

Between several bouts of running Hijack This and Malwarebyte's Malware Remover, things appear to be about half way fixed, but some problems still persist. The only problem left from the list above is that I am still unable to save changes in msconfig. But, in the process of all this, several other things have come up.

New problems:

1. Boot now takes 10+ minutes unless booting into safe mode
2. Any changes made to desktop disappear after reboot.
(I think these two may be related. I may be way off, but shutdown takes a bit too. Wondering if its running some kind of system restore each time...)
3. Unable to uninstall Java. Says cannot start Windows Installer (even when not in safe mode). Doesnt seem to happen with other programs. (was running with a theory)

Unfortunately, my brother needed his comp back, so I had to backup what I could and run the recovery disk that came with it. Thanks all the same though.
