laptop hdd issues

hi i have a toshiba equium a200 laptop the last week though everytime i go on it i get a warning to backup data as there is a hdd issue

taday when i start it there is a pxs error on boot saying media not connected or something
done diffrent tests etc bios cant find hdd

my question is its a toshiba hdd i think there 2.5 form factor am i right

if i replace it does it have to be a toshiba one or can it be a maxtor one or other

As long as you get the same form factor and interface (ie if it's a SATA drive, you need a SATA replacement etc) I don't think there should be any problem.

I was able to swap over the 5400 RPM Western Digital drive in my HP laptop to a 7200 RPM Seagate without any difficulty.

I pressed F5, and I'm feeling refreshed...
