I got rid of 435 Viruses out of my friends computer...and I tried to install ESET Nod32 Anti-Virus but it installs but when it gets to the starting service part of the install I get an Error Message stating that EKRN can't be started due to Services or something along those lines... My friends computer is Atrocious to work on due to the 256MB of RAM...I ran MalwareBytes a few times on his computer and got rid of a TON of Stuff...But ComboFix is usually the best way to make sure... Could you please help me out?? I got rid of all the viruses and stuff but when it comes down to it I am at the ending stretch of making his computer work I just need to install ESET... Any Ideas?? |

Im not an expert on forum related issues, but you should use caution when running combofix. Forum rules say you shouldnt run it without being instructed to by their trained malware experts who can decide if you really need that utility(i have seen computers bricked after running combofix improperly). I think you should post in "Am I Infected" forum and they will be able to help you and decide if you need to run combofix or not.
In my opinion, multiple runs of good anti-malware progs should clear things up, as well as some good hijack this scanning and fixing. You can also give you hijack this log to the malware experts and they will break it down line by line and tell you what to fix. |

Try a couple of these free, online scanners to see if anything has slipped by your protection:
(Be advised that some of these scanners will pickup things in "quarantine" from other anti-virus programs - so review the results carefully) http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/solutions/activescan/ http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/default.asp http://housecall.trendmicro.com http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html http://support.f-secure.com/enu/home/ols.shtml http://onlinescan.avast.com/ http://ca.com/us/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/ http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner Scan Only - no removal <links compiled on 02/14/2008> If you find that you're infected (or the scan doesn't complete or closes unexpectedly), post in the Am I Infected forum located here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum103.html If you're not infected, post back in the original location and we'll try some more stuff. -------------------- My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic. ComboFix logs should not to be posted or discussed outside the HijackThis forums. It is an extremely powerful tool which should only be used when instructed to do so by someone who has been properly trained. ComboFix is intended by its creator to be "used under the guidance and supervision of an expert", NOT for private use. Please read Combofix's Disclaimer. Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again.
Please create a new topic in the Am I Infected forum. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum103.html Explain the nature of your problem. Describe pop-ups and system tray or desktop icons that have appeared. Explain what is "going wrong" with your computer. Note any tools you have used and their respective results. If needed, we will direct you to our HJT Preparation Guide. This topic is now closed. The BC Staff -------------------- Mark
