Hello and Happy New Year and best wishes to all.
I received and installed a PCI (NOT PCIe) Firewire 800 card (2 plugs 800 and 1 plug 400) in my DualBoot XP SP3 and Vista SP1 .
My PC does not "see" this card...
on the top righ corner of this card there is a 4 pins (small) male plug. Do I need to give power to this card?
Thanks in advance.

Hello, best wishes to you also.
What brand is the card? Is it new and known to actually work? It should be found and installed as a device by both XP SP3 and Vista.
The auxiliary power connector is to allow the card to power external devices beyond the power that can be supplied through the PCI bus (limited to a little under 10 watts). I find no detail given so far in my searching as to exactly what fitting it uses, although it looks like a Floppy Drive power connector.
The Vantec manual shows it but gives no instructions for its use for example:

Hi,
Thanks for the .pdf it explains all.
This card is coming out from my son's PC where it was working very well.
I will reopen the "box" and recheck my installation.
Thanks
