Got a laptop for Christmas - Dell , Insperion 1525, with Vista (sigh) . Am learning Vista , slowly . When I open the 'takslist" I get a long box with only the current "applicatios" listed - no tabs for processes, performance, etc... also no 'boxes' to close, minimize,... have to right click taskbar icon to close it . Does anyone know why I'm having these problems (aside from general human density ) ? How do I get the traditional tasklist to appear ? Thank you !

I have an Dell Inspiron 1525 as well and I have not saw this problem yet.
It seems as if you have not learned how to use the Aero Interface. This is not actually an error.
I am going to display some information from this page: http://www.vista4beginners.com/task-manager
You may click on the link and learn more information.
I need to find out as well if this is what you were talking about:

Was this it?
To have your Task Manager window return to normal, double click on the blank gray area which is highlighted above.
