BleepingComputer.com: ?Using Universal Boot CD

Hi. Looking for someone who knows the programs on the UBCD. My son, in an effort to help, said yes to a reformatting of my system after a blue screen crash. Before I finish running & pay for a data recovery software I was advised on this site to determine if Windows had created a backup directory. UBCD was suggested- either that or another method if someone knows. I'll need fairly specific instructions as directories is an area I have little experience in.

Can you suggest and provide some basic instruction for the best tool on the UBCD for: 1) finding a possible Windows directory back-up, and/or 2) data recovery software for my reformatted drive.

I believe the application John was referring to is Disk Investigator 1.31
I've never had to use that app. I sometimes use a Live Linux CD, but most of the time I take the drive out and put it in another machine or a USB enclosure. I know there are a few people here that use that disk. You'll just have to wait and see if they respond
