however, i've noticed that we're all given titles: newbie, head bleeper, student, mentor, etc...and also, that each name has an envelope, or 6... would it be possible to explain how these titles come about...and how many posts, suggestions, additions, inclusions, or whatever it takes to add envelopes to our names? i can't believe i'm the only one curious here! if it's elsewhere..and i've missed it, just point me in the right direction...with my thanx... damgud |

I dont know the exact number but, it just depends on how many post's you post! And Head Bleeper is the owner of this site the moderators well moderate lol like e move subjects that are not in the right place and also help people with bigger problems that some people cannot help with!Mods are here to help the "head bleeper" so he does not have to spend all his time on the site making sure everything is going smothly! And we help as well! You can tell the mods and the admins by the color of there name! Admins are red. global mods are blue, other mods are green purple and orange! As for the "envolopes. Again that goes up as you post more. I am sure grinler aka head bleeper can tell you a bit more than I.

I'm kinda worried about mine changing from student-to-teacher ahead of schedule. I know my limitations, and will continue to ask more questions than I answer for a while longer, I'm sure.

Even teachers ask questions
Here is the rundown on what titles you get for how many posts...personally I think the titles are lame .. lol.. But at the time I was so preoccupied with writing the tutorials and getting the site going that I did not put much thought into them.. Currently here are the titles per posts: Newbie 0 Student 40 Teacher 150 Mentor 225 Specialist 300 Expert 450 Keeper of Knowledge 800 If someone has some better ideas for the titles I am all for hearing some ideas. I am going to go away from the titles reflecting how experienced you are in computer matters as there will be times that users have 450 posts, but are not an expert by any means, they just like to hang out and chat, which I think is great and necessary for any community. I will eventually institute the ability to change your title, as in Format Junky, for brunt when you reach a certain amount of posts. Will be a while for that. As for the roles of the various groups, Brunt described it well. I am the only administrator and my name appears in red. Global Moderators (blue) are members who have moderator privaleges on every forum in the discussion boards. Moderators (purple) are members that have specific moderator abilities in certain forums. They help out with board issues when I am not available and essentially help to run the site. Guests are people who have no registered, validating users are people who registered but did not validate their account, and of course Members. Well the members are the cream of the crop. Without them, we would be talking now -------------------- Lawrence

I have just GOT to say this site is COOL.
I want to link to it from my site. Please let me know if I can... I am most impressed by the name you have chosen for your site. Catchy. A friend sent your link to me. Seems your reputation as well as your site name is really getting around. Wish I could afford to get my own domain name right now. But I'm still not sure if my name will hold up. All the good ones are taken. Or are for a price. Anyway... GOOD LUCK with your success and THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the GREAT ADVICE. It's worth your weight in GOLD. Hi all,
I think the ranks on forums are a great idea, they make things more interactive for users and it's easy to pick out regular members who have better knowledge of how the board works. One thing i would like to add though is that ranks like "teacher","expert" etc just for the amount of posts you make can be misleading to other less experienced members, when i visit a forum and i see "expert" as a user's rank i would take it as a special rank given to that member by the Admin and would also take their advice over the other ranks. You can imagine the problems that "could" arise with this. This is just my opinion and in no way reflects the members here or how this board is managed. Chief. Chief you were thinking the same thing im thinking! If someone here just posts in general and he ranks up over 450 he becomes a expert! Anmd a newbie here thinks well he expert he know what hes talkin about then.............toruble! Some people earn there expert and other just on the site to make friends and have fun............
