Firstly, sorry if this is the wrong section!

I have an HP Pavilion laptop. It has a section on the harddrive called 'HP recovery' I want to try to access this to wipe everything off the comp and re-install vista as it's being very slow. However, when I boot the comp I go to the recovery menu and it says insert the windows discs. I think I may have burnt them when I first got the laptop but unfortuneatley I can't find the discs anywhere. So how do I restore my laptop to its initial factory state?

Thanks

I have the same thing, its not a sepereate hard drive, just a recovery partition.

To acesses it and reset to default tap F11 on boot up
If I am helping you and I do not respond within 24 hours, please send me a PM. :)

There are 2 separate types of HP recovery - the kind where you press F11 to restore it, and the kind that requires the recovery disks to access the partition. Try the F11 thing to see if you can do it that way.

If not, you'll have to contact HP for a set of Recovery disks for your system. They usually run $20 US or less and you'll get them in 4 or 5 days.
