Hi Guys.

As the title suggests neither of my web browsers will open. At first they did but only limited access.(only google and a few other websites)

But now, they do not even load? IE opens(blank) and then says no connection.

I did system restore a number of times, flushed the DNS( I'm not 100% on this as only a blank cmd screen flashed after I did so)

Any help greatly appreciated.

Version of FF and IE? Operating system?

For firefox you can try:

If Firefox previously worked but suddenly doesn't start, it may be due to some corrupt data in your settings. Uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox would not fix this problem because your settings are not removed on uninstall.

To test to see if this is the problem, use the Profile Managerto create a new profile. If the problem goes away, you can then move your bookmarks and other important settings into the new profile.

I'm using FF 3 and IE 6..

I cannot even access the profile, getting a box saying sorry ff has crashed and to send an email telling ff about it

Would it be possible to delete FF using HJT?

HJT is a powerfull tool that shouldn't be used unless you know what you are doing.

The answer to that question is no. HiJack This should never be used for that purpose.

Given that both browsers are affected, I suspect that the issue is not with Firefox itself.

Let me clarify something. You state that you cannot "open" your web-browsers, then later you say that the browsers "don't load." But then you say that you get a blank browser screen. You wouldn't even get a blank browser screen if the browser didn't load and open. So, what is in fact happening is that the browsers load and open but don't connect to anything?

If that is the case, the problem isn't with the browsers but with the internet connection. There are a few possibilities that could cause that. Here are just a couple.

1) A bad internet connection

2) Something interfering with the internet connection. Other programs, legitimate or otherwise, are sending or receiving data preventing the browsers from connecting.

Do other programs have problems connecting to the internet?

I also use my PC to connect using the same Wireless LAN. I followed these instructions in this post

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...st&p=742976 I now have limited connection. IE loads some sites and Firefox loads but still no sites.
